The do's and don'ts of making an insurance claim

- You must make your insurance claim as soon as possible and always within 30 days of the incident
- You must notify the Police and obtain a Crime Reference Number in the event of loss or damage by theft, attempted theft, violent disorder, riots or civil commotion.
- You must take all steps necessary to reduce further loss, injury or damage
- You must provide us with all information and evidence that we may request, such as written estimates and proof of ownership or value
- Do not under any circumstances effect any repairs without our prior consent
- Do not under any circumstances admit, negotiate or settle any claim without our prior consent
In the event of a claim we may:
- Negotiate, defend or settle any claim made against you
- Prosecute in your name any other person we have to in respect of any claim
- Appoint a loss adjuster to handle the claim on our behalf
- Arrange to repair the building and appropriately handle any salvage
