Conditions good for landlords looking to expand portfolios

More than half of property experts have seen a "significant improvement" in the way in which investors view UK property investment conditions over the past three months.

This is according to Reita's Property Investment Perspective, which showed that this is true among 54 per cent of those surveyed.

Following the release of the report, the Reita panel agreed that Britain's property sector is now seeing "substantial growth".

This is a shift from the previous view that 'green shoots' were beginning to emerge.

Landlords look set to welcome the news, many of whom have put off expanding their portfolios because of the recession.

And with the National Landlords Association commenting that owning a home has become an "unrealistic expectation" for large numbers of young people, now may represent an excellent opportunity for existing and would-be landlords.

Research from Spareroom.co.uk recently revealed that increasing numbers of people are renting for longer, with the average age of a tenant having increased from 25 to 28 in three years.
