Eco-conscious landlords who kit out their properties with environmentally-friendly household appliances may have been misled by manufacturers' claims, a new report has suggested. Some of the biggest-selling products may not be performing in accordance with standards claimed by the manufacturer, according to a new study by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. The report, which tested hundreds of products, revealed that 16 out of 24 washer-driers did not live up to makers' claims.Energy-efficient light bulbs were also found to be underperforming and lacking mandatory information labeling.Environment minister Dan Norris said: "When people buy a new household appliance, they need to be confident that if it says it is energy-efficient, it will live up to those standards."British Eco Energy, which offers advice to homeowners that are interested in renewable energy, said that energy-efficient products are now standing out in the competitive appliance market."An increasing number of people are installing renewable energy solutions in their home. Having a personal form of energy generation has a definite effect on how power conscious they are," said a spokesperson for the organisation.Get a landlords insurance quote today from Simple Landlords Insurance
