Residential Landlords could be among those to benefit from a recent announcement from the Environment Agency (EA).The organisation has unveiled plans to double the number of businesses and homes that can receive free flood warnings.According to the agency, the move will see around 500,000 properties at risk of river and sea flooding receive free warnings from the end of this month. The Association of British Insurers welcomed the proposals and advised home and business owners that it would not affect their insurance policies.Kelly Ostler Coyle, media officer at the ABI, said: "This isn't saying more homes are at risk of flooding, just that more homes will be added to the EA's flood warning system."This is good news for home owners and businesses and sensible advice. Insurers already use the EA's flood maps and in some cases their own digital mapping," she explained. The decision comes three months after areas of Cumbria were devastated by extreme flooding.Get a buy-to-let buildings insurance quote today from Simple Landlords Insurance.
