Landlords urged to go black and white

Residential landlords, who may be looking to redecorate their properties in order to attract new tenants, have been advised to go for a black and white theme this year.

Carolyn Trevor, interior designer to the stars, has advised that teaming "dark and dramatic" shades together is "the look for 2010".

A member of the British Institute of Interior Design, Ms Trevor is renowned for her bathroom designs and has produced interior work for a number of celebrity clients, including Actor Dustin Hoffman and members of punk band the Sex Pistols.

The expert has predicted that bold colours will be the big interior trend over the next 12 months.

"I like to use black and white including splashes of vibrant colour. [It] makes a bold, graphic effect," she said.

"This look for 2010 is heavily influenced by the global economic meltdown and this particular mix gives the look an urban edginess."
