Residential landlords and other homeowners are put off from installing green measures by the costs involved, it has been claimed.Build It Magazine, which offers advice on self-build and home improvements, said many green measures are "just too expensive to install".Duncan Hayes, the publication's editor, said: "We get several people that [want] heat pumps or solar panels or PV [photovoltaics] and after a couple of quotes they just walk away and look to insulation for their savings in terms of energy and CO2. "It is a great shame really that the products aren't cheaper or subsidised by the government or there's not the financial incentive."The comments follow an announcement form the government that while 43.8 per cent of the available vouchers for its boiler scrappage scheme have been "snapped up", around 70,000 still remain.Mr Hayes claimed that while schemes such as boiler scrappage ought to be "applauded", there should be more of them and they should last longer."Green grants and incentives tend to run out more or less within a few weeks of them being issued," he added.Get a landlords insurance quote today from Simple Landlords Insurance.
