Residential landlords could be among the homeowners in the UK that will need to retrofit energy-efficient systems if the country's CO2 reduction targets are to be met. This is the view of whatgreenhome.com, which said retrofitting will be important if the UK is to reduce carbon emissions by 80 per cent over the next 40 years.Gordon Miller, the website's founder, said: "Obviously there has been a huge commitment to reduce CO2; there is a legally binding one of 80 per cent by 2050. The estimates are that around 75 per cent of the existing housing stock will still be around by 2050."Clearly retrofitting and bringing the existing homes up to speed is absolutely critical if we are going to meet our own emissions targets and reduce CO2 emissions."The comments follow the launch of a new manifest from the existing Homes Alliance, which has called on the government to produce a national strategy for retrofitting.Get a cheap landlords insurance quote today from Simple Landlords Insurance.
