Landlord advice scheme "huge success"

A special advice session for current and prospective landlords has been hailed as a huge success by organisers.

Eden District Council said that almost 100 people attended the evening get-together, which covered areas such as fire safety, landlord law and energy efficiency.

Attendees were also given advice on Eden District Council's landlord accreditation scheme and a number of 'freebies' including television 'power down' energy saving devices.

"The event was hugely popular, and we received very positive feedback from landlords, indicating people benefited from the advice available, as well as having an enjoyable evening," said Richard Turner, the council's housing portfolio holder.

"We now hope that many landlords will join the accreditation scheme and benefit from its incentives."

Eden's accreditation scheme aims to maintain high standards in the private rented business and offers free publicity, newsletters and other training events to members.

Landlords who want to join the scheme must meet a minimum set of standards.
