Female landlords celebrated

Female landlords in the private rented sector have been celebrated at an awards ceremony held by the National Landlords Association (NLA).

The NLA Property Awards 2009 gave prizes to 11 regional winners and crowned Shona Davison, a landlord from Sheffield, the NLA Property Woman of the Year 2009 award.

The landlord has been working in the sector for seven years and runs her property portfolio while maintaining family commitments and a full-time job.

David Salusbury, chairman of the NLA, said: "The aim of the NLA Property Women Awards was always to celebrate successful business women who are making their mark and transforming the private-rented sector.

"We hope Shona's story will inspire other women to look to property as an investment for the future, as these awards identified it's certainly an area women are thriving in."

A website has already been launched by the NLA to begin the countdown to next year's awards.
