Fewer landlords had possession claims issued against their properties in the second quarter of 2009, compared to the first three months of the year, new data has shown.Research from the Ministry of Justice found that there were 34,421 landlord possession claims from the start of April to the end of June in the UK.This is three per cent lower than in the first quarter of 2009 and also seven per cent lower than at this stage in 2008.In addition, the overall number of mortgage possession claims has decreased considerably, suggesting that there may be signs of recovery in the housing market.There was a 31 per cent drop from last year's statistics in terms of possession claims that led to orders being made, although there was a one per cent increase in comparison to the first three months of the year.The Council of Mortgage Lenders found that the number of mortgages in arrears of more than three months decreased by 17 per cent in the last quarter.Get a landlord insurance quote today from Simple Landlords Insurance.
