Improve 'rental potential' of homes

Landlords have been urged to maximise the rental potential of their properties but making minor adjustments.

ServiceMaster has called for homes to be spruced up this summer in order to gain an edge over the competition and secure new tenants.

The home services company explained that late summer and early autumn are among the busiest periods for renting houses, so every little improvement could attract a new tenant.

In a statement, the firm said that properties need to have the "wow factor", especially if landlords are looking to attract high end tenants.

"Once you have attracted potential tenants through the front door, visualise yourself in their position," stated ServiceMaster.

"Fundamentally all tenants want the same thing; a tidy, well ordered house, filled with light, space and storage and the ability to visualise themselves living there."

Ways to boost rental potential include improving the external features of homes, such as lawns, as well as removing clutter and cleaning thoroughly.
