On June 28th, a combined team from Simple Landlords Insurance and Direct Group took on the National Three Peaks in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. The team completed the three highest peaks across Scotland, England and Wales in 26.5 hours and, in doing so, raised a grand total of £10,625.

Beginning at 6am in Scotland, and with a 4,409 ft ascent ahead of them, the team made their way up Ben Nevis. This was a gruelling start to the challenge as not only was it at times, deep in snow, but also it was the highest of the three peaks.

Following the completion of Ben Nevis, the team made the six-hour drive to the Lake District National Park, England, to take on the second peak, Scafell Pike. After a well needed rest on the mini-bus, the team managed to complete Scafell Pike's 3,209 ft ascent in just 3 hours and 50 minutes.

With tired and aching limbs, and no sleep for almost 24 hours, arriving at Snowdonia National Park, Wales, looking to Snowdon's 3,472ft peak was a daunting site. Despite the final stage being considered to be the toughest by all team members, they all dug deep to reach the summit and complete the National Three Peaks in a time of 26.5 hours - a monumental moment for all involved.

Surrounded by fog, the team can be seen at the peak of Snowdon.

With support from friends, family, clients, colleagues and Direct Group, who matched all funds raised, the team managed to raise a whopping total of £10,625 for Macmillan. More fundraising will continue throughout the year in aid of Macmillan, our company’s chosen charity, to try and reach our target of £100,000.
