It’s pretty hard to take time off as a landlord, and after the Christmas break it’s certainly back to reality with a bump - as Storm Eleanor gives properties up and down the UK a proper battering.

The Met Office recorded gusts reaching 100mph overnight, with a yellow warning still in place for Wales, England, and most of Northern Ireland, as well as parts of southern Scotland.

Alex Huntley, Head of Operations at Simple Landlords Insurance said: “It’s the 5th storm of the season, and this is where we typically start to see more damage and more claims - as the damage from winter weather is cumulative.

“It’s in February we see the most storm claims - and prevention is always better than a cure. Visit your properties after Eleanor passes, and check for damage - paying particular attention to your roof and any outside spaces.”
