New database will track tenants' renting history

A Nottinghamshire tech firm has launched an information sharing database which allows lettings agents to review a prospective tenant’s past rental history, good or bad.
The team behind the TenantPro system says it will help landlords avoid potential rent arrears, malicious damage, abandonment and anti social behaviour.
Director John Richardson says the platform will promote 'transparency and fairness' and prevent renters from covering up problems with previous tenancies.
TenantPro is being offered to letting agents free of charge for the first year in a bid to break into the market and become the go-to source of information for a tenant's rental history.
Mr Richardson said: "TenantPro is a system that allows letting agents to share factual information about tenants that is not available by any standard referencing means, comprehensively collated on a single database.
"TenantPro also helps tenants build a rental profile, showing their conduct during the time of the tenancy and payment history.
"It is being trialled in Nottingham initially as all three of the directors are from Nottingham and based there.
"Nottingham also has a strong, expanding rental market and Nottingham City Council is intent on improving the quality of landlords."
TenantPro also aims to support tenants by proving they've paid rent on time and they haven't damaged property or behaved antisocially at previous addresses.
Mr Richardson, an IT systems designer, joined forces with Andrew Shipman, who has ten years in the residential lettings industry, and Aaron Northridge, a landlord with 20 years' experience working in finance
The database is exclusively available for letting agents in Nottingham - and will later be expanded to cover the UK.
