Website to create tenancy agreements in line with new laws
Saturday 18 November 2017
The creation of a website which allows Scottish landlords to create tenancy agreements that comply with new legislation has been welcomed.
The Scottish Association of Landlords (SAL) says the Scottish Government site will make it easier to comply with the requirements for new tenancy agreements from December 1.
The website allows landlords to create tenancy agreements that contain clauses “required” under the new laws, as well as adding or removing correctly drafted “optional” clauses
SAL chief executive John Blackwood said: “We have worked closely with the Scottish Government, housing charities, tenant groups and others to ensure the new tenancy agreement legislation strikes the right balance which will help the private rented sector to grow whilst encouraging responsible landlords and protecting the rights of tenants.”
Housing Minister Kevin Stewart said: “It is an important tool, helping landlords to fulfil the new responsibilities and duties that will come into force on December 1.”
