Women in Property - #BeBoldForChange
Wednesday 08 March 2017
Today is International Women’s Day, which celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women. Women - and men - across the globe are being challenged to #BeBoldForChange and continue to champion gender equality.
At Simple Landlords Insurance, we’re celebrating the achievements of women in property - and how far we’ve come in the last 150 years.
Two generations ago, married women could not own their own property. Just one generation ago, women could still be refused mortgages unless they had a male guarantor.
Today, women have the same rights as men to buy, sell, let, manage and make money from property - and many are doing just that. In fact 40% of the UK’s landlords are now female.
Our full Women in Property report will be launched next month, but here’s a teaser about the #BeBoldForChange journey women have taken - and how they’ve claimed a significant slice of the rental-property market for themselves
